Sculpture Hop with the City of Hastings (solidifying the date with the City of Hastings)
The Thornapple Arts Council is partnering with the City of Hastings to promote the 16 sculptures that will be displayed throughout Hastings. Several of the sculptures will be on permanent displays, including the three sculptures at the Hastings Public Library and “Storm,” which is currently outside the Hastings City Hall. There also will be 11 sculptures on display through the Midwest Sculpture Initiative. The Thornapple Arts Council will work with city staff musical entertainment to provide docents to inform the community about the sculptures.
Fridays at the Fountain beginning June 11
The Fridays at the Fountain concert series will be Friday, June 11. The series will be on the Barry County Courthouse lawn from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The series will continue through August 20. Details TBD next week.
Hastings City Band concerts
The City of Hastings will sponsor the Hastings City Band for five concerts to be held Wednesday July 7 and July 14. The concerts all begin at 7:30 in Fish Hatchery Park.
Hastings Art Hop July 30
The Thornapple Arts Council will host an Art Hop from 5 to 9 p.m. Businesses throughout downtown Hastings will host artists for the evening and provide snacks. Art of different mediums will be on display.
Gun Lake Art Hop Aug. 20
The Thornapple Arts Council will host an Art Hop from 5 to 9 p.m. Businesses around Gun Lake will host artists for the evening and provide snacks. Art of different mediums will be on display. The event is in conjunction with Orangeville Days.

Art Auction, October 2
The Thornapple Arts Council annual art auction is the organization’s largest fund-raiser. he auction will be Saturday, Oct. 2 and it is our largest annual fund-raiser. 100% of the money goes toward programs such as Jazz Festival, Youth Theater Program and Fridays at the Fountain. Interested participants can download an Art Auction Donation Form. Further details to be determined.
Holiday Artist Market Dec. 4
The first Thornapple Arts Council Holiday Artist Market will be in conjunction with Hastings Christmas celebration. It will feature work from local artists of different mediums. Details to be determined.
Delton Christmas Art Hop Dec. 7
Delton will be host to the annual Christmas Art Hop in conjunction with the Delton Hometown Christmas. The event will last from 5 to 8 p.m. Each location will have snacks and artists’ work on display.

This year’s Art Prize runs from September 22nd through October 10th and we will be making two trips to Grand Rapids to view selected works from this International competition. Our bus will depart from Hastings heading to downtown Grand Rapids for an afternoon tour of the most popular Art Prize Entries and will featur...e insightful narration by Steve VanDuine, Kendal Art Student and owner of VanDuine Design. The tour will offer viewing from the comfort of a bus, as well as stopping 2-3 times to allow participants to exit the bus to get a closer look at some of this year’s beautiful works. Currently we have two dates scheduled… Saturday 9/25: Departing at Noon from Commercial Bank (Formerly Mainstreet Savings Bank) Returning around 4:00pm Sunday 10/10: Departing at Noon from Commercial Bank (Formerly Mainstreet Savings Bank) Returning around 4:00pm Reserve your seats now for this guided tour! Due to bus capacity, seating is limited to 30 people per trip and tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Tickets are $15 for all ages and may be purchased either online at www.thronapplearts.org or through the Thornapple Arts Council Office.
